New experiment!

I had just recently done another ‘fluid painting’ and at the same time had been currently thinking through ideas of how I could incorporate my heated textile experiments within paintings. I was thinking mostly along the lines of collage and stitching but then it occurred to me that acrylic paint itself is plastic based, therefore how would a dried painting react under the heat gun?

As I found out it created a quirky bubbly effect which I think looks quite fascinating combined with the patterns created from the fluid painting technique.

I much prefer these paintings after they have been varnished. I usually just add a thin layer which highlights the vibrancy in some of the colours as well as enhancing the visibility of the texture that the bubbles bring.
